Foolhardy: John Jardini allegedly robbed a girl then asked her out on a date
A mugger has been arrested after phoning his victim to ask her out on a date.
The bungling thief demanded the phone number of a girl he was robbing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
But when he called her up and then confronted her again he was swiftly identified and arrested.
John Jardini, 26, has been charged with robbery following the incident, according to KDKA.
The bizarre episode started when Jardini reportedly robbed the girl of $60, and also made her give him her telephone number.
He then twice called her and asked whether or not she had a boyfriend.
Jardini also - perhaps over-optimistically - asked his victim to go out with him.
When she reported him to the police, they obtained a warrant allowing them to examine his phone records.
Phone: Jardini's calls to his alleged victim helped to track him down
Officials were close to tracking Jardini down when he allegedly attacked the girl and her mother on the same road as the original robbery.
He was arrested on the spot, and his victim claimed that he was the same man who had previously mugged her.
Locals told KDKA they thought the alleged thief was 'both stupid and dumb' for allowing himself to be found.
