Humans remains discovered on Long Island have been identified as a 20-year-old man who was 'recently killed,' and whose death has been ruled a homicide, officials said.
The missing man was identified on Wednesday as Yoneli Abimael Ramoso Moreno of Brentwood. His remains were discovered along Sunken Meadow State Park located in Smithtown on Monday afternoon.
Parkgoers made the grim finding when they were on a trail at the eastern end of the 1,287-acre park, state police said.
'The death of Ramos Moreno is being investigated as a homicide and it's been established that his death occurred recently,' according to a press release by the New York State Police.
The case is under investigation, but at this time police have not linked Ramos Moreno with the Gilgo Beach bodies found along the South Shore, The New York Post reported.

Sunken Meadow State Park is located on the North Shore of Long Island in the town of Smithtown. Parkgoers made the grim finding when they were on a trail at the eastern end of the 1,287-acre park, state police said
The young man's body was found approximately 30-miles from Gilgo Beach, the area where nearly a dozen set of human remains were found between 2010 and 2011.
State police were called to investigate a body that was found around 1.00pm Monday at the state park, police said.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Identification Unit responded to the scene to investigate.
The park is approximately a 30-minute drive from Heuermann's home.
The 59-year-old married father of two is currently being held at a Suffolk County prison. In July, he was charged with killing Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello, who disappeared in 2009 and 2010.
All three women Heuermann is accused of murdering were found in 2010 wrapped in burlap off of Ocean Parkway near Gilgo State Park just minutes from his home.
Authorities said he's also the 'prime suspect' in the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes. As of last month, he is no longer being investigated in connection with the 1989 murder of sex worker Carmen Vargas.
Heuermann's dramatic arrest outside his offices in Manhattan's Fifth Avenue on July 13 came as a result of a decade-long hunt for the infamous Gilgo Beach serial killer.
He counted Nike, American Airlines and Target as clients during his three-decade architecture career, while allegedly also strangling three women and taunting their families with phone calls - often made from his New York office.
The first set of remains was found along the strip of coastline in December 2010, when the body of Barthelemy, 24, was discovered during a search for another missing woman, Shannan Gilbert, 23.
Two days later, cops realized they may have a manic serial killer on their hands when three additional sets of remains were discovered - those of Brainard-Barnes, Costello and Waterman.
The bodies were found along a half-mile stretch on Gilgo Beach, where several other bodies have been found - some of which police are still determining if Heuermann had anything to do with.
The three women he has been charged with killing and the one he is suspected of murdering were all found wrapped in camouflaged burlap, and worked as escorts on Craigslist, officials said.
