As a new school year begins, Gap Kids is recognizing the kids who are shaping the way forward by featuring young leaders in its new Be the Future campaign. It tapped Earth Uprising founder, Alexandria Villaseñor, 15; "Little Miss Flint" Mari Copeny, 13; One Million of Us founder, Jerome Foster II, 18; and #youthvgov plaintiff, Levi Draheim, 13, to bring the collection (and their respective causes) to the forefront.
The campaign will also unite these leaders on Friday, August 14 for a global virtual climate rally to fight for a more inclusive and sustainable world. Gap is encouraging participants to tune into the rally and post a sign with #BeTheFutureThatWill___, filling in the blank on how you plan to take on the future. (To join, visit @gapkids social channels.)
In addition, Gap is also partnering with the nonprofits, When We All Vote and Rock the Vote, "to inspire our community to register to vote this election year and help ensure a better future for all generations." To spread the message, Gap created reusable non-medical grade face masks with the words "Vote" and "Be the Future" featured on them to benefit the organizations.
The 18-year-old supermodel teamed up with Malibu-based sustainable brand Bleusalt to launch her signature pair of leggings. The $130 Kaia Pant flares into a bell bottom and comes in five colorways: black, navy, white, camel and heather gray.
On Monday, Gerber modeled the ultra-flattering style on Instagram, revealing in the caption that 20 percent of proceeds from each pair will be donated to an organization called A Sense of Home, which "works to prevent homelessness by creating homes for people who have aged out of the foster care system."
The launch comes after Gerber's famous mom, Cindy Crawford, asked Bleusalt CEO and founder Lyndie Benson to "elevate her favorite pants" in the label's signature fabric a few years ago.
The Cindy Pant quickly became a staple in the Bleusalt collection, Benson said in a press release. Adding, "Now, I am so excited to design a pair of pants for her daughter Kaia Gerber, a fashion icon in her own right."
