Taylor Swift Photo Becomes Instant Meme

Taylor Swift's attendance at boyfriend Travis Kelce's NFL game on Saturday has gone viral for a variety of reasons and now one photo in particular has become a meme.

Swift sat alongside Travis Kelce's mom, Donna Kelce, and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as they watched the Kansas City Chiefs' 26-7 win over the Miami Dolphins on January 13.

The pop superstar was among thousands of fans at Kansas City, Missouri's GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, braving the sub-zero temperatures while winter storms hit large portions of the country. It was the fourth-coldest game in NFL history and shattered the record for the coldest game in Arrowhead Stadium history. The kickoff temperature was minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit, according to NBC, with a wind chill of minus 26 degrees.

On the night, Swift could be seen sitting in a box seat, where the glass on the suite kept fogging up because of the Arctic temperatures. The singer could be seen trying to get a glimpse of the field through a small defrosted patch—and now it's become a meme.

People have shared various photos and videos of Swift looking out the frosty windows on X (formerly Twitter) with hilarious commentary to go with it.

Newsweek reached out to Swift's publicist for comment via email Tuesday.

"She's a big city ad exec home in Gingerbread Falls for the holidays trying to find herself. He's a clumsy lumberjack who volunteers at her grandma's nursing home who can help. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce star in the Hallmark classic, Meet You Under the Mistletoe," one person wrote. At the time of writing, it had been viewed 696,900 times.

"Me waiting for my windshield to defrost in the morning," another person joked. This post has been viewed 691,600 times.

"This looks like it's from the trailer for an upcoming Taylor Swift rom-com (aside: who says no?) Just the perfect shot," a third person wrote in their tweet that has been viewed 262,900 times, before someone added in the comments: "'I'll be home for Swiftmas' coming to Lifetime holiday movies 2024."

Another X user's post, which has received 3 million views, read: "Pov you're the expired leafy greens in my fridge watching me come back for another beer."

Swift's attendance at the game over the weekend had a lot of people excited. One fan tried to grab the singer's attention with a creative sign they made, which has since gone viral.

"It's colder than Taylor's reaction to Jo Koy," it read and a post sharing a photo of the sign on X had been viewed more than 579,000 times at the time of writing. "THIS SIGN?! SCREAMING," the original poster wrote in the caption.

The banner referenced not only the freezing temperatures at Saturday's game but also Swift's less-than-impressed reaction to a joke made by Koy at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, California, on January 7.

Several of Koy's jokes fell flat with the live audience of celebrities and nominees in attendance as well as with people watching the award ceremony at home. The comedian, who was hosting the Hollywood awards ceremony for the first time, appeared to leave Swift unhappy when he cracked a joke about her romance with Kelce.

"The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift," Koy said, referencing the incessant coverage of the singer's presence at games. When the camera cut to Swift, she looked stone-faced while taking a sip of her drink.

Koy has since defended the joke, and in an interview with the Los Angeles Times published on January 11, the 52-year-old said he has been surprised by the negative reactions it received. A representative for Koy didn't respond to a comment request from Newsweek via email Friday.

Koy said he thought it was obvious that he was directing his joke at the NFL, not Swift.

"But the whole intention of that joke was to make fun of the NFL," Koy told the publication. "What hurts the most is me just supporting Taylor, I support her, I love her work. I got nieces that I bought tickets for. There's no ill intent in that joke. The joke is about the NFL and how they keep using cutaways to [her]."

Koy added: "I'm not saying anything that no one's saying, and it's obvious what that joke was."
